The Albany Patroons are a professional basketball team that plays in the semi-professional league, The Basketball League (TBL). The team is based in Albany, New York, and was founded in 1982. The team has had several periods of success, winning three Continental Basketball Association (CBA) championships in 1984, 1988, and 1990. They also won the World Basketball League (WBL) championship in 1989. The Patroons have had some notable players over the years, including Tony Campbell, Mario Elie, and Vincent Askew. In recent years, the team has experienced financial difficulty and was temporarily dormant before being revived for the 2018-2019 TBL season.
